Evernote is good for tracking and organizing information you collect. Wunderlist is really a sophisticated “to do” list management system. I think they’re really quite different!

Love your Tuesday tips. I am going to check out wunderlist. How might it be different from evernote?

If you were making a purchase that cost an entire week’s pay, how much time would you spend researching your options? I think it makes sense to spend about the same amount of time planning the week it takes to earn that amount of money.

Just to be sure, hands-on works better. Never trust a computer system. In my method, you only need a pen and a hand drawing to get up to speed with or without computer even when you are in the backseat of a car. You can simply draw the template in my other post above with your name at the center in a rectangle and rectangles all around it. Then add checkmarks inside any rectangle if you feel like doing it. During the weekend, tally the number of checkmarks for each task and derive insights on how you can spend your time better during the next week. Interesting :0)

Not sure I want to mess with Wunderlist right now. It really works for me!

Good suggestion Mohan, but I guess that Michael is also dealing with fear. (Your use of the phrase “freeze up” makes me think that.) I suggest you start with the step of working with a timer. It’s really easy to do, non-threatening and then the hours won’t go by — ZIP! — without you being aware what’s happening. Once you get used to that, you might try planning some (not all!) of your work sessions and see how it feels.

What we are looking for is to simplify planning. You can just use braindump to just write down all the things you can remember as of now about a particular task or event you are planning about To help with that, if it is a common task you can use the internet and search “plan for event” where event is the type of event.

I’m 100% on-board with the efficacy of planning, and being able to plan effectively would be my Birthday Wish!
For a planner like yourself, *how to start* is not even a step. But I kind of freeze up at times.

My work seems to have zero priority for planning purposes, yet at times i read and write as hours go by ZIP!–but not according to any plan!
