Happy you found the questions useful. Many tools that are useful for other parts of life are also exceptionally helpful to writers!

People sometimes criticize me for my obsession with word counts but I’ve always felt it’s very important to have a goal…and to HIT it!

Lesley, take a look at my video on reverse engineering. It’s short and I think it will really help you a lot. https://www.publicationcoach.com/reverse-engineering-for-writers/

I was delighted that I could practice the idea despite not being a person who writes as a profession.

I messed something up totally last week for exactly this reason. I was too focussed on the finished product which has since been scrapped. Your article has caused me to reflect on that as I set out to start again today which I have dedicated to mind mapping and that first draft you have been talking about so much.

I have Asperger’s Syndrome and Reflection is the best tool in my toolbox. Your questions for writers are perfect! I hadn’t thought about using it for my writing. Silly me…

A few years into my career as a novelist, I figured out that my readers and my publishers both were happiest when my contemporay fiction came in at 97,500 words and my action-adventure thrillers clocked in at 115,000 words (I guess the extra 17,500 words were what scared the tar out of the readers).
